**Obituary for Charles Thomas Jr.**

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Charles Thomas Jr affectionately known as Mr. Charlie, at the age of 86. A beloved resident of Baton Rouge, he departed from us at the Baton Rouge Healthcare Center, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience.

Mr. Charlie was a man of simple joys. He found happiness in cutting grass and landscaping, often spending leisurely afternoons under a shade tree, soaking in the beauty of the outdoors. His love for the Blues resonated in his soul, and a toothpick was almost always found nestled between his lips, a signature of his unique charm.

His work and friendships in the vibrant community of Scotlandville were a source of pride. Mr. Charlie made his mark at Bowies Store and American Legion Post 502, where he cherished every moment spent with friends and patrons alike. His warmth and hearty laughter will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Family was the heart of Mr. Charlie’s life. He is survived by his wife, Telba Schaffers Thomas, and is lovingly remembered by his children, Melissa Vallery, Kenny Harris, Nikita Jackson, and Darrius Schaffers. His legacy also continues through his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and dear relatives and friends.

Mr. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Violet Thomas, and his beloved son, Craig Thomas.

As we celebrate his life, we are reminded of the countless memories shared, the love he gave, and the impact he made on those around him. A gentle soul and a diligent worker, Mr. Charlie will forever hold a cherished place in our hearts.
