Darrius De’Onta Shaffers, born November 9, 1998, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Telba Shaffers Thomas and Craig Thomas, entered eternal rest on January 26, 2026, at his residence. His life, though far too brief, was filled with intelligence, creativity, and a deep love for the people who meant the most to him.
Darrius was gifted with a sharp mind and a natural talent for technology. Whether fixing devices, exploring new software, or helping others navigate the digital world, he approached everything with curiosity and skill. He was smart, thoughtful, and full of potential. Though he faced personal struggles, he never stopped loving his family fiercely. His heart remained tender, loyal, and full of hope.
He is survived by his devoted parents, Telba Shaffers Thomas and Craig Thomas; his loving sisters, Nikita Jackson and Angel Thomas; paternal grandmother Bessie Mae Thomas; his cherished nieces Chelsea, Jaleyah, Drelynn, and Dre’a; his nephews Nicholas and Christopher; and his cousin, Kyla Cook, whom he loved as a sister. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends who will forever carry his memory.
Darrius is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Norman Sr. and Carolyn Shaffers, his brother, Craig De’Andre Thomas, stepfather Charlie Thomas and his uncle, Norman Shaffers Jr.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Philadelphia Christian Ministries, 7317 Hanks Drive, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, under the leadership of Apostle C. L. Shepard Sr. and Pastor Paula Shepard.
Darrius will be remembered for his bright mind, his gentle spirit, and the love he carried for his family. May he rest in peace, and may those who loved him find comfort in the memories they shared.
