**In Loving Memory of Brother Earnest J. Canty Jr.**

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brother Earnest J. Canty Jr., who left us on July 21, 2025. Born October 8, 1946, in St. Francisville, Louisiana, to the late Earnest J. Canty Sr. and Estella Parker Canty, Earnest was the beloved eldest of seven siblings.

From a young age, Earnest was rooted in his faith at Mt. Herman Baptist Church, where he not only found spiritual guidance but also joyfully shared his voice in the choir. His commitment to education led him through the halls of East Baton Rouge Parish School System, culminating in his graduation from Capitol Senior High School in 1964. With a deep dedication to his family, he balanced a career as a plant operator at Dow Chemicals while pursuing higher education. Through perseverance and hard work, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, ultimately retiring from Dow Chemicals after thirty-five years of exemplary service.

On July 16, 1972, at St. Mark United Methodist Church, Earnest united in marriage with Brenda Jackson Canty. Their love blossomed into the gift of family, welcoming their cherished daughter, Chantay Patrice Canty Doyle.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Earnest served his country with honor, receiving numerous accolades including the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Navy Unit Commendation Medal. His adventurous spirit fueled his passion for travel; he explored verdant landscapes and vibrant cultures across the globe, from France to Brazil. Additionally, Earnest was in his element among fellow racing enthusiasts, actively participating in a race car and van club that shared his love for speed and camaraderie.

Earnest leaves behind a treasure trove of memories for all who knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Chantay Canty Doyle; his loving sister, Linda Canty Davis, both of Baton Rouge; and his adored granddaughter, Chantia Leigh Doyle. He will also be remembered by a delightful array of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends whose lives were touched by his warmth and kindness.

He is now reunited in spirit with his loved ones who predeceased him, notably his parents Earnest and Estella Canty Sr., his brothers Robert, Anthony, Jeffrey Sr., and Marvin Canty, and his sister Sharon Canty Budgewater.

As we celebrate the incredibly rich life of Brother Earnest J. Canty Jr., let us carry forward his legacy of love, dedication, and adventure. He will forever remain in our hearts.
