Easter "Lorraine" Bienville

February 25, 1941 — March 5, 2026

Baton Rouge

Easter "Lorraine" Bienville, a beloved educator and cherished matriarch, left this world on March 5, 2026, at the age of 85, passing peacefully at St. Clare Manor. Born on February 25, 1941, in Plaquemine, Louisiana, Lorraine exemplified the grace and strength of a true fighter, living her life on her own terms until the very end.

Lorraine’s spirit radiated warmth and enthusiasm, inviting all who crossed her path into her life. She was a social butterfly, never failing to engage with those around her, and her genuine love for people was evident in every interaction. Her profound faith and commitment to God were integral to her being—she attended church regularly and devoted her time to volunteering in the community, selflessly helping to feed the homeless and prepare meals for those in need. A proud member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary, Lorraine’s life was one of service and compassion.

Her academic journey took her back to her roots in Plaquemine, where she honed her talents as a sportswoman and musician, playing the clarinet in the marching band. Education remained a cornerstone of her life, culminating in a master’s degree from Southern University. Lorraine spent years passionately educating the next generation in the public school system and the Catholic diocese, affectionately cherishing the children who passed through her classroom doors.

Lorraine was not only an educator but also a lover of fashion, known for her elegant and stylish attire. Her passion for dressing well led her to work part-time at various clothing stores, where her sense of style inspired others. Lorraine's hobbies included a fondness for all sports, especially basketball, reflecting her vibrant and energetic personality.

She was devoted to her family, finding her proudest accomplishments in her daughters—Dominica B. Laurie (Robert), Monique P. Hobbs (Tony), and Susan L. Bienville—along with her cherished grandchildren: Christina, Rebekah, Deborah, Benjamin, Katheryn, Josiah, Thomas, Erin, Kara, David and Joseph, as well as her great-grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with her love and wisdom. Lorraine’s legacy of kindness, elegance, and perseverance will undoubtedly resonate through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Her passing is preceded by the loving memory of her husband, Leo Bienville Jr., and her grandson, John "Palmer" Laurie, along with her parents William Lawrence and Lillie Harris Lawrence and her siblings who have welcomed her home in eternal rest. Lorraine is also survived by her beloved sisters Gloria Connely and Jacqueline Murphy, serving as a pillar of support and love to their extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and innumerable friends.

A viewing will be held at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Baton Rouge on March 10, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Lorraine will then be laid to rest with her husband at Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary at 11:00 AM, marking the final chapter of a rich and vibrant life, filled with love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit.

Lorraine Bienville’s legacy will carry on through the lives she touched and the love she so generously shared. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
