Frith Watkins, a man whose life was marked by faith, strength, and a spirited sense of style, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, at the age of 80, at Ochsner Medical Center. Born on September 30, 1945, Frith’s journey through life was one of dedication, love, and unwavering commitment to his family and community.
A proud Army Veteran, Frith served his country with honor and was awarded the national defense service medal, a testament to his courage and service. After his military career, he retired from the United States Postal Service, where his hard work and dependability left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege to know him in the workplace.
Frith was a man of many dimensions: a devoted Christian and a man of faith who found solace and joy in his church community. Known for his wit, he was a jokester who spoke his mind with a gentleman’s grace and a swag that was uniquely his own. His friends and family remember him as a man of strength—steadfast, sincere, and always ready to bring a smile to those around him.
He cherished the simple pleasures of life. Watching Westerns and Sports, especially Southern basketball games were among his favorite pastimes. He loved taking leisurely drives, finding peace and reflection in the open road. Above all else, Frith’s pride and greatest accomplishment was his family—a legacy of love that will forever remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Frith is mourned by his beloved daughter Lavonne Watkins; grandchildren India, Jeremy, and Morgan Watkins; great-grandchildren Daurio Chaney Jr., Dorian Chaney, Ayden Hutchins, Journi Watkins, and Jerzi Watkins. He is also survived by his siblings Cecile Jones (Kenny), Denise Charles, and Dicy Young, along with godchildren, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of loving relatives and friends who cherished his warmth and humor.
He joins in eternal rest his dearly missed wife Geraldine Watkins, son Frith Watkins Jr., parents Frith Watkins and Odeal Jones Charles, stepfather Swill Charles Sr., brothers Swill Charles Jr. and Allen Charles, and grandson Gerald Dean Watkins. Their memories, indelibly woven into the story of his life, continue to inspire those who knew him.
The celebration of Frith Watkins’s remarkable life will begin with a viewing on April 18, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Jubilee Christian Center Church, located at 14595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70819. The funeral service will immediately follow at 10:00 AM. On April 20, 2026, interment will take place at Port Hudson National Cemetery, 20978 Port Hickey Road, Zachary, LA 70791, at 11:00 AM.
As we remember Frith Watkins, we hold dear the powerful image of a man who lived fully—with faith, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His legacy of strength, kindness, and a vibrant spirit will remain an eternal beacon to all fortunate enough to have shared in his journey. Rest in peace, dear Frith—you will be forever missed and forever remembered.
