Johnnie 'JuneBoy' Sims Jr. became known as a man whose presence brought energy, laughter, and warmth wherever he went.

Johnnie “JuneBoy” Sims Jr. passed away at his residence on October 13, 2026, at the age of 83. He was born on July 10, 1943, in Zachary, and through the years became known as a man whose presence brought energy, laughter, and warmth wherever he went.

JuneBoy was outgoing, fun-loving, and deeply rooted in his Christian faith. He never met a stranger and had a way of making people feel welcome from the moment they met him. He was the life of the party, a true vibe, and someone whose spirit naturally drew others in. He will be remembered for the joy he carried, for the conversations he shared, and for the way he could light up a room simply by being himself.

He worked as a truck driver for Holsum Bread before retiring, and he also owned his own lawncare and landscaping service. He took pride in his work and in the life he built through dedication and steady effort.

Outside of work, JuneBoy embraced life fully. He loved listening to music and dancing, and the memory of him dancing will remain dear to those who knew him. He enjoyed hanging out and talking noise with the fellas, making homemade wine, gardening, and watching football and sports, especially cheering on the Saints. Among the relationships he treasured most was the bond he shared with his son Jeremy. They were best friends, and their time together was a meaningful part of his life.

Above all, his grandchildren were his proudest accomplishment. They brought him deep joy and stood as a lasting source of pride in his life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Johnnie Mae Beckham Sims, and by his parents, West Green and Louvilla Henderson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Chris Dancy Sr., Myron Dancy, and Jeremy Dancy. Together, they were an important part of his life, and Jeremy also shared with him the special closeness of a best friend while caring for him with devotion. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Brianna, and Faith, along with other grandchildren who were part of the family circle he loved so much. He also leaves behind his sisters and brothers, as well as other relatives and many friends who will continue to carry his memory forward with love.
