Lawrence Henderson, lovingly known to many as Bill Bo and to some as Uncle L, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on May 9, 1945, in Alexandria, Lawrence was a vibrant soul whose gentle spirit, creativity, and unique charm left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.

Lawrence grew up surrounded by the love and support of his close-knit family. He was the beloved son of Ab Henderson and Harriet Henderson, both of whom predeceased him. He shared a deep bond with his siblings Annie Ruth Henderson and Lucille Lockett, as well as his brother Leroy Henderson, all of whom he now joins in rest. Those who mourn his passing are blessed with warm memories and loving stories, especially his nephews Micheal Henderson (Patricia) and Frankie Henderson (Ethel Denise), and his nieces Julia Smith (Kenneth), Tina Guildry, and Rekinna Henderson. While Lawrence did not have children of his own, he joyfully dedicated his love and time to his extended family, especially his great and great-great nieces and nephews who cherished every moment with their "Uncle L."

Lawrence’s life was marked by a quiet kind of resilience and creativity. Described by many as a loner, he nonetheless made an unmistakable impact by the ways he cared, created, and gifted his presence. After enlisting in the Navy—a path that would ultimately take an unconventional turn—he pursued HVAC certification and worked a variety of jobs. Through every venture, Lawrence was steadfastly himself: humble, independent, and resourceful.

Perhaps his greatest legacy lies in his extraordinary talent for drawing. Lawrence possessed an artist’s eye and steady hands, able to capture a likeness with effortless expertise. Family members and friends recall the joy and awe of watching him bring a blank page to life. To Lawrence, drawing was not just a pastime, but an act of love—one more way to connect with those around him and leave a personal touch in their lives.

Life’s journey took Lawrence to new places, including a time spent living in Colorado Springs before he made Baton Rouge his home. Wherever he went, his personality came through in subtle ways: his sharp wit, his love of football, his fondness for Canadian Mist, and above all, his fierce love for family. Even in solitude, Lawrence took pleasure in simple joys, continually demonstrating the depth of his caring nature.

He was the one you could find sketching and drawing at a gathering, sipping his favorite drink, or cheering for his favortite football team—always observant, always deeply present in his own way.

A memorial service honoring Lawrence “Bill Bo” Henderson's life will be held on August 22, 2026, at Resting Place Funeral Home, 7840 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70806, beginning at 10:00 AM. Friends and family will gather to share memories and celebrate a life lived with authenticity and creativity. Inurnment will follow immediately at Resting Place Memorial Garden, 14040 Locust St, Baton Rouge, LA 70819.
