Leslie John Johnson, 68, passed away on August 16, 2026, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. Born on December 23, 1957, in Natchez, Mississippi, Leslie was known for his strength, sharp mind, and his reputation as a man who didn’t take no mess.
A skilled mechanic and disciplined boxer, Leslie honed his abilities with determination and pride. He carried that same grit into every part of his life. He also enjoyed playing chess, a game that matched his strategic thinking and competitive nature.
Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Johnson.
He is survived by daughters Latonya Holliday Green and her husband Tyrone, Shawanda Chews and her fiancé Wendell Wright, and Michelle. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 2 great‑grandchildren, his brother George Johnson, sisters Mary Johnson and Ruby Hughes, along with many other relatives and friends who will remember him with deep love and respect.
Leslie will be remembered for his grit, intelligence, steady hands, and the bold way he carried himself. His presence was unmistakable, and his absence will be felt by all who knew him.
