Sister Margaret Ann Cotton, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, at the age of 61. A native of Baton Rouge, LA, Margaret lived a life devoted to faith, family, and service.
She attended McKinley High School in Baton Rouge, where she nurtured her education and built lifelong friendships. From an early age, Margaret embraced her faith, accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and being baptized at New Risen Sun Baptist Church under the guidance of Rev. Leroy Williams.
Margaret dedicated her career to serving others, working at Louisiana State University and T.J. Ribs. She was known for her kindness, warmth, and ability to bring joy to those around her.
She leaves behind her cherished daughter, Rakeesha Cotton, and beloved grandson, Raylan Cotton, along with her longtime friend, Lawrence Smith. She is also survived by two sisters in Baton Rouge, LA, and a brother in Cypress, CA, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will forever hold her memory close.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Josephine Cotton, her brothers, James Tilque and Joseph Cotton, and her sister, Patricia Cotton.
