Mary Smith

With profound sorrow, we share the passing of Mary Smith, who departed this life peacefully on June 22, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her dearly. Born on August 25, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Mary lived a life full of warmth, devotion, and quiet strength.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 52 years, Willie E. Smith; her cherished children, Michael R. Smith and Stephanie M. Smith; and her treasured grandson, Jesse Smith. Mary’s memory will also be carried in the hearts of her sister, Valery Oliver, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She now joins in eternal rest her parents, Raymond and Naomi Meggs, and her brother, Wendell C. Meggs.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who found her greatest joy in the company of family. A lifelong lover of books, she delighted in the power of storytelling and the quiet solace of reading, always eager to learn and grow.

Throughout her brave battle with gastric cancer, Mary showed remarkable courage, grace, and an enduring faith that never wavered. Her strength continues to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Mary's spirit, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
