Michael Fleming, a vibrant soul whose infectious laughter and radiant smile lit up every room, passed away peacefully at the age of 59 on May 13, 2026, at Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet. Born on December 28, 1966, in Orange County, California, Michael lived a life that was as outgoing and spirited as the man himself—a true life of the party who loved to eat, celebrate, and surround himself with loved ones.
Michael’s career journey reflected his hardworking nature, engaging in wash barges and contributing his energy and dedication to a moving company. Beyond the day-to-day labor, Michael's proudest accomplishments were his cherished children and grandchildren, treasures that brought endless joy and fulfillment to his heart. His devotion as a father and grandfather was evident in every moment he shared with his family, and he took immense pride in witnessing their growth and happiness.
His personality was as warm and dynamic as his passions. Known for his humor and natural charisma, Michael was the embodiment of joy and camaraderie. Those who knew him fondly remember his smile and laughter as enduring beacons of comfort and delight—memories that will forever remain etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
Michael’s family is a testament to the love he fostered and the bonds he nurtured. He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Tewyne Coleman Fleming; his daughters, Shaunquell Coleman and Michaela Pierre; and his grandchildren, Daliyah Coleman, Mekhi Coleman, and Kross Pierre, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his sisters Coy Fleming (Norma) Victorian, Dywanda Fleming, Michelle Fleming, Melinda Fleming, and Ophelia Fleming; his brother Andrew (Rose) Fleming Jr.; father-in-law Richard McCoy; sister-in-law Shenita (Galen) Seals; along with nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends who carry his spirit forward in their lives.
Michael’s journey was shaped by those who came before him as well—he was predeceased by his beloved parents Andrew Sr. and Juanita Fleming; grandmothers Sarah Douglas and Azalea Jones; brothers Deno Douglas and Eugene Fleming; mother-in-law Toni Horton; and nephews Tyree Fleming and Timothy Ottison Jr., whose memories remain intertwined with his.
A viewing will be held on May 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Bible World Christian Center, located at 1771 Lobdell Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70806. These moments of reflection will allow friends and family to honor and celebrate Michael’s extraordinary life and the joyful imprint he leaves behind.
Though Michael’s physical presence has departed, his legacy of laughter, love, and the unmistakable lightness he brought into the world remains forever with us. His memory will continue to inspire smiles and gatherings filled with warmth and happiness—a fitting tribute to a life well lived, a heart well loved, and a spirit never forgotten.
