Patricia "Patsy" Gomez

November 18, 1950 — October 25, 2025

Baton Rouge

Patricia Montecino Gomez, age 74, passed away peacefully, Saturday October 26, 2025, at Ochsner Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and resilience.

Patricia, affectionately called "Patsy" was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and lived in St. Bernard Parish for much of her life. She was the beloved daughter of the late George and Anna Montecino. She graduated from Redemptorist High School in New Orleans and went on to attend Hotel Dieu School of Nursing, where her caring spirit first found its calling.

In 2005, after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Patricia and her family relocated to Baton Rouge, where she built a new chapter of her life with strength and determination. An entrepreneur at heart, she founded and operated a moving and storage company, embodying her tireless work ethic and dedication to helping others.

For over 56 years, Patricia shared a beautiful marriage with her devoted husband, Louis Gomez Jr. Together, they built a family rooted in love, faith, and generosity. Patricia was a compassionate soul who never turned away an animal in need. She was a steadfast supporter of the Humane Society and cancer research, causes close to her heart.

Her greatest joy was her family. She cherished her son, Larry Gomez, and his wife Jennifer, and adored her grandchildren: Deni (Vital) Smith, Louis Gomez IV, Schi Perkins, and Mya Gomez. Patricia was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and happiness. She is survived by her siblings, extended family, and countless friends who will remember her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Anna Montecino, and her beloved son, Louis Gomez III.

Her memory will live on in the lives she touched—with every rescued animal, every act of kindness, and every moment of love she gave so freely.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, honoring Patricia’s lifelong commitment to compassion and care.

At Patricia’s request, there will be no formal services. The family encourages all who knew her to honor her memory in their own way, through acts of kindness and love.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their love, prayers, and support throughout the years, and asks that you continue to keep them in your prayers during this time.
