Robert Earl Gordan Sr., known affectionately by many as "Big Guy" and "Shop," passed away peacefully at his home on June 8, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on July 11, 1964, in Inverness, Mississippi, Robert lived a life full of joy, love, and laughter—a life that touched everyone who had the privilege to know him.
A skilled mechanic by trade, Robert's talent was legendary. He worked diligently as a mechanic with a waste management company, renowned for his ability to fix anything. His expertise and dedication were sources of pride, but it was his warm spirit and outgoing nature that truly set him apart.
Robert was a man who never met a stranger. His home and heart were always open, creating a welcoming atmosphere not only for family and friends but for anyone who crossed his path. He loved to throw parties where anyone was welcome, embodying the true spirit of community and kinship. The life of every gathering, Robert’s infectious laugh, radiant smile, and magnetic personality had the remarkable power to light up any room.
He found immense joy in spending time with his family and friends, often seen sporting his beloved cowboy boots or engrossed in watching westerns and wrestling matches featuring legends like Junk Yard Dog and Hulk Hogan. Robert had a passion for shooting pool, playing spades and dominoes—with playful banter and friendly competition accompanying every game. Music was a constant companion; he loved DJing and filling the air with vibrant tunes. A lover of good food, he delighted in boiling crawfish and riding motorcycles, always embracing life’s pleasures with enthusiasm.
Among Robert’s proudest accomplishments were his enduring marriage to his wife Tracy Green Gordan—together over 44 years—the joy of raising his children, and the blessing of countless grandchildren. Family was at the core of who he was, and he cherished his 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren dearly.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Tracy Green Gordan; his devoted children Keonna Jones and her husband Tauraen, Robert Gordan Jr., and Reginald Gordan Sr.; his mother Mattie Mae Gordon; his sister Myrtis Kelly; and brothers Jimmy Gordon, Willie Gordon, Jessie Gordon, and Terrance Gordon.
