Robert Earl Gordan Sr., a man known for his mechanical skill, vibrant personality, and welcoming spirit, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, at the age of 61. He entered eternal rest in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the unwavering love of his devoted wife, Tracy Green Gordan.

Born on July 11, 1964, in Inverness, Mississippi, Robert—affectionately known by many as “Big Guy” and “Shop”—was a mechanic by trade whose talents were second to none. He worked diligently at a waste management company where his ability to repair and restore was unmatched; there seemed to be nothing he couldn’t fix. His pride in his mechanical skill was rivaled only by the joy he found in spending time with his family and friends.

Robert’s energy and warmth filled every room he entered. Outgoing and full of life, he was often described as the life of the party, lighting up gatherings with his unmistakable laugh, broad smile, and magnetic personality. He never met a stranger, always creating a welcoming atmosphere where family, friends, and even newcomers were invited to join in the fun. Robert loved to host parties where all were welcome, embodying a spirit of inclusiveness and generosity.

His interests were many and reflected both his roots and his vibrant character. He delighted in wearing cowboy boots and watching Westerns, often reminiscing about wrestling legends like Junk Yard Dog and Hulk Hogan. Whether shooting pool, playing spades or dominoes, or just “shooting the breeze,” Robert brought a lively, playful energy to every occasion. Music was a beloved part of his life—he enjoyed DJing and had a fondness for boiling crawfish. Motorcycles and good food were also sources of happiness in his daily life.

Above all else, Robert was profoundly proud of his family and the life he built. Having been devoted to his wife Tracy for over 44 years, their enduring partnership was a testament to their deep bond. He cherished his children—daughter Keonna Jones and her husband Tauraen, sons Robert Gordon Jr. and Reginald Gordon Sr.—and took great pride in his 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who were a constant source of joy.

Robert was also grateful to have the support and companionship of his mother, Mattie Mae Gordon; his sister, Myrtis (Robert) Kelly; and brothers Jessie (Delores) Gordon Jr., Jimmy Gordon, Willie Gordon, and Terrance Gordon. His circle of close friends included Monroe and Tammie Jenkins, alongside other relatives and friends who were touched by his zest for life and kindness. Though his father Jessie Gordon Sr., granddaughter Ro’Nya Gordon, sister Martha Spears, and brother James Gordon preceded him in death, their memories remain cherished.

The funeral arrangements will include a viewing on June 27, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Bible World Christian Center located at 1771 Lobdell Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70806, followed by the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the same location. Burial immediately following in Resting Place Memorial Garden located at 14040 Locust St Baton Rouge, La 70819.
