Rose Marie Swain Tillman

1955 — April 12, 2025

Baton Rouge

In loving remembrance, we gather to celebrate the vibrant life of Rose Marie Swain Tillman, a cherished mother, devoted grandmother, and treasured friend, whose spirit shone brightly until her passing on April 12, 2025, at Clarity House in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born in 1955, in the heart of Baton Rouge, "Ree" and "Ms. Cloudy" as she was lovingly called, left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew her.

Rose’s life journey was one enriched by her unwavering dedication as a Housekeeper and Cook, a role that allowed her to nurture not only her family but also all who were fortunate enough to share a meal prepared by her loving hands. Her culinary talents were matched only by her warmth and kindness, easily evoked in the memory of her ever-present peace sign—a symbol of her commitment to goodwill and harmony.

As a proud product of the Public Schools of East Baton Rouge Parish, Rose embodied the spirit of resilience and community. She embraced the simple pleasures of life—cooking, shopping, preserving old CDs, and lovingly pouring over the AVON book to find treasures that delighted her. Above all, it was the time spent with her family that she treasured the most, cultivating bonds filled with laughter and love.

Rose leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her children: daughter Rebecca Tillman Jones, sons Silas Lee Williams Jr. (Reshonda), David Jerome White, and George Tillman Jr. Her family is further enriched by seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, along with a beloved godson, Angelo Martin. Each of them carries forward a piece of her spirit—her zest for life and the love she so freely shared.

The late Woodrow and Delia Swain, her parents, welcomed her into this world and now graciously watch over her. Together with them, she reunites with her beloved granddaughter, Karlee Rose Williams, and great-grandson, Taijuan Smith, whose memories echo in the hearts of her family.

A celebration of Rose's life will take place on May 3, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM at the Resting Place Funeral Home 7840 Florida Blvd Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70806. Friends and family are invited to come together to reflect on her extraordinary life and the warmth she brought to so many. Burial in Resting Place Memorial Garden 14040 Locust St Baton Rouge, La 70819.

In remembrance of Rose Marie Swain Tillman, we honor a woman whose laughter resonated warmth, whose spirit radiated peace, and whose heart encompassed all those she held dear. As we bid her farewell, let us all raise our peace signs in a final salute to one who will never be forgotten.
