Vandy Ray Young

Vandy Ray Young was born in 1959. From a young age, he displayed a vibrant spirit, a kind heart, and a natural ability to bring joy to those around him. Whether it was his infectious laughter, his caring nature, or his ability to turn any moment into a cherished memory, he was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A tireless worker throughout his life, Vandy found joy and meaning in the simple but powerful act of caring for the world around him. He had a deep love for landscaping, and he spent countless hours tending to the earth-- planting, pruning, and creating beauty wherever he went. His green thumb was matched only by his determination to leave things better than he found them.

Vandy had a passion for keeping the environment clean, often seen picking up cans and debris not for praise but out of respect for the land and community he cherished. His efforts went far beyond appearances; they were acts of love, stewardship, and quiet dignity. Vandy was a giver and a helper-- always ready to lend a hand, share what he had, and offer his time without hesitation. Vandy left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him. Vandy Ray Young will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness, hard work, and care for the world around him will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his siblings, Sharon and Claude Young, God sisters, Diane Douglas and Tonya Young; Nieces, Keisha Selvage- Houston and Kelly Smith, and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Frances Young; Godparents, Issaac and Gertrude Douglas; Grandmother, Beatrice Yelder Young; Grandfather; Aaron Young; Aunt, Evelyn Young; and Nephew, Aaron Young. We take comfort in knowing he was welcomed with open arms. Though the pain of his loss is overwhelming, we find solace in the memories he left behind. His spirit will live on in every shared story, every echo of laughter, and every act of love inspired by his example. We will forever carry him in our hearts.
